-- Conference of public libraries to be held in Iran

The Second International Conference of Public Libraries titled ‘Public Libraries and Small Businesses’ will be held in Mashhad on October 17 and 18, announced the Secretary-General of the Iran Public Libraries Foundation Mehdi Ramezani.
Ramezani said, “As we know, all developed and developing countries are experiencing economic challenges. For tackling challenges, businesses have also changed. Among recent changes are the proliferation of small companies, which are now known as “the key to economic development in the next decade.”

--  Baghdad International Book Fair opens with Iran’s presence

The 24th edition of the Baghdad International Book Fair opened on September 18, with the participation of the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran’s House of Books and Literature is participating in this fair for the third time, showcasing a 60-square-meter booth, featuring 1,100 titles in various categories including Islamic studies, adult literature, children's and young adult literature, academic and university books, Persian language instruction, the Sacred Defense (Iran-Iraq war), and special books on martyrs Hajj Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis. Additionally, there is a special section dedicated to the Holy Qur’an.

-- Minister: Iran won’t let NATO presence in region

The Iranian Defense Minister emphasized that his country is against NATO’s presence in the region, as well as any changes in the region’s geopolitics. Regarding the United States’ entry into the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict and the potential introduction of NATO forces in the region, Mohammadreza Ashtiani told ILNA, “We firmly oppose external interference in regional affairs”. He underscored Iran’s commitment to resolving regional issues through diplomatic channels and cooperation with neighboring countries.
Referring to recent tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan and the presence of Iranian forces on the border, Ashtiani affirmed that Iran does not accept any changes in the geopolitics of the region.

-- National Theaters to Mark Sacred Defense With ‘Number Ten’

Local theaters are set to take on ‘Number Ten’ on the occasion of the Sacred Defense in Iran.
Directed by Hamid Zargarnejad, the film that is themed on the sacred defense during the eight-year Iraqi war on Iran, will come to the theaters on September 20, iFilm reported.
‘Number Ten’, a movie based on a true story, is the story of a man who was captured by the Iraqi forced during the final months into the imposed Iraqi war on Iran. He was then taken to a horrific camp near the border.

-- Remembering Shahriar: National Day of Persian Poetry

Iranians commemorate Shahriar on the anniversary of his departure, also named Iran’s National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature. The National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature is observed every year on the death anniversary of the most prominent figure of contemporary Persian poetry Muhammad-Hussein Behjat Tabrizi – known by his poetic name as Shahriar, which fell on Monday this year.
As the most prominent figure of contemporary Persian poetry, Shahriar was mainly influenced by the poetry of Hafez, a Persian poet writing in the 14th century. Shahriar published his first book of poems in 1929 with prefaces by Persian literature scholars Muhammad-Taqi Bahar, Saeid Nafisi, and Pejman Bakhtiari.

-- ISPA: Iran Among World’s Top 10 Steel Producers

The head of the Iranian Steel Producers Association (ISPA) Bahram Sobhani said Iran, which produces 32 million tons of steel annually, ranks among the top 10 steel producing countries in the world.
Sobhani made the remarks on Monday at the First Specialized Conference on resilience in the steel industry and added that Iran has turned into one of the largest steel producing countries in the world.

-- Iran Sara poetry event to be held in Tehran

The poetry and music event of Iran Sara will open tonight at the Soureh Hall of Tehran’s Art Bureau.  The two-day event marks the celebration of the National Day of Persian Poetry and Literature and seeks to promote the beauty and significance of Persian poetry, Milad Erfanpur, the director of the Music Center of the Art Bureau said in a press conference on Monday. 

The national event also intends to create a platform for poets to make a social impact, he added. 

--  Iran’s €5.57b frozen assets unblocked

 The governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) announced that €5.573 billion of the country’s frozen assets has been unblocked. Mohammadreza Farzin announced the deposit of €5.573 billion from Iran's blocked resources to the accounts of six Iranian banks in Al-Ahli and Dukhan banks in Qatar

Speaking in a TV program, the official said that on August 10 of this year, all inaccessible Iranian funds that were kept in South Korean banks and the Seoul branch of Bank Mellat were transferred to the account of the Swiss Central Bank to be converted into euros.

--  Iranian universities shine in Taiwan Ranking 2023

 Iranian higher education institutions have once again demonstrated their global prominence, with 18 universities making their mark in the prestigious "Performance Ranking of Scientific Papers for World Universities," also known as the "Taiwan Ranking," released annually by the National Taiwan University.

The University of Tehran has emerged as the torchbearer of Iranian academia, securing an impressive global ranking of 286 in the 2023 Taiwan Ranking. This distinction cements the University of Tehran's reputation as a world-class institution committed to research excellence.

In this comprehensive ranking system, a total of 18 Iranian universities have earned their rightful place among the top 1,000 institutions worldwide. Shahid Beheshti University, lifted by its faculty members' remarkable research achievements, is among the highest-ranking institutions contributing to Iran's global academic recognition.
